A Tale of Two Nations

Over four hundred years ago, a group of men and women set foot upon the shores of our nation with the hope of a new life before them.  Accustomed to civilized society in Europe and the benefits that it provided, life was difficult for the Pilgrims.  In fact, due to starvation and disease 80% of the colonists at Jamestown colony would perish during the years 1609-1610.  Yet, the rest stuck it out – much like those who, just a few years later, would settle in Plymouth, Massachusetts.  For that group, leaving kin and country, traveling the treacherous and deadly sea and going to a wilderness land where all of the comforts of home were lost was a small price to pay for freedom – specifically, the freedom to worship God in a way consistent with their Protestant convictions.

It was not only Protestant convictions that found refuge in this new land.    In 1634, Roman Catholics settled in Maryland.  In 1638, Roger Williams established the first officially recognized Baptist church in North America and by 1654, America saw its first Jewish Congregation formed from Jews escaping Brazilian persecution. And, by the 1700s, Islam made its way into America in small pockets as Muslims fled European persecution  – though actual mosques didn’t show up until the 1920s.

As the American colonies became the United States, this principle of religious freedom followed the colonists and expanded as they set up the new country.  Now, rather than having a state religion as many of the colonies had, no state would establish its own religion and people of all faiths would be free to worship their G/god according to their own convictions.

This fact is illustrated in no better place than the realm of American Jewry.  Though Jews have been expelled throughout the world, they have been able to live here.  But what if that were to change?  What if America turned her back on Israel and the Jews and no longer acted as a protector against this long persecuted group of people?

There is evidence she is doing just that.

In what is being classified as yet another embarrassing verbal gaffe, US Vice President Joe Biden stated at a Rosh Hashanah Party:

“You understand in your bones that no matter how hospitable, no matter how consequential, no matter how engaged, no matter how deeply involved you are in the United States…there is really only one absolute guarantee, and that’s the state of Israel,” (http://www.israeltoday.co.il/NewsItem/tabid/178/nid/26354/Default.aspx?utm_source=news&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=No-sidebar-news-1&utm_content=1709)

And, in 2014 anti-semitic incidents were said to have risen 21% over prior years with 44% of those incidents being vandalism or assault in the United States.

Now, we have crafted a treaty with a known supporter of terrorism in which Israel’s very existence is being laid on the line in such a cavalier manner as to be shocking.  Not only are we giving Iran a green light for creating nuclear weapons, but we’re paying them and protecting them as they literally get by scot-free in their quest to annihilate Israel and ultimately the USA.

What in the world is going on?  Right is wrong.  Up is down.  Black is white.  It is as if the entire planet was teleported to backwards land  and now has awoken to a world in which every standard and principle we have stood for and believed for so long is turned on its head.

While America has existed, she has been blessed greatly for her support of Israel.  Other nations have suffered under a curse for not supporting her.  But today, I’m forced to ask the question of not how much longer God will continue to bless our nation but how much longer before we start feeling the full strength of the curse we have placed ourselves under.  The United States of America, a country established on a biblical foundation has forsaken her heritage and is now plunging headfirst into self-destruction.  A choice was given – choose you this day whom you will serve – and she chose Baal.  From here, we can only hope for national repentance; but, with our turning our back on Israel, might this be the point where God does not send revival again?

Jeremiah 8 speaks of a time when the Jews were being warned to turn.  Time and again, Jeremiah poured out his heart with the message God had given but they would not repent.  Destruction was near but they not only ignored Jeremiah’s words but persecuted God’s prophet.  Jeremiah lamented:

18 When I would comfort myself against sorrow, my heart is faint in me. 19 Behold the voice of the cry of the daughter of my people because of them that dwell in a far country: Is not the LORD in Zion? is not her king in her? Why have they provoked me to anger with their graven images, and with strange vanities? 20The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved. 21 For the hurt of the daughter of my people am I hurt; I am black; astonishment hath taken hold on me.

Jeremiah spoke harsh words towards his people because he was trying to wake them up – because he loved them and did not want to see them destroyed – and because He loved the God who made them.  For this, he was put in chains.

Persecution is rising in America.  It is rising against Jews and it is rising against Christians.  It is getting to where it is no longer safe to be a part of the people of the book.  Will we stand silently as it all passes away?  Or will we take what is perhaps the last moments of freedom in this land to be a Jeremiah to our generation and warn them of the destruction that awaits them if they do not repent?ur

One can follow the history of America and pair it up with the history of Israel in many ways.  Both of us were founded with dedication to the God of the Bible.  Both of us have stood on biblical principles.  Both of us faced a division of our land through civil war.  Both of us have fallen into idolatry and sin.  Both of us have had periods of revival.  Both of us have turned right back to our sin after the revival has come.  And both of us have stood on the precipice staring face to face with our own destruction and have been given a clear choice.  Israel chose her own destruction.  Will America?

America and Israel are a lot alike.  But there is one key difference.  Israel’s promises from God are eternal and though she has strayed far from Him, God will never forsake her.  America doesn’t have such a promise and is on very precarious ground right now.  Everything she is and everything she has enjoyed may be lost in a single moment if she does not repent and turn back to God.  What will we do?  Are we about to face our Babylonian captivity?  Are we about to face the end?  Time will tell – but I don’t think we will have long to wait to find out the answer to that question.   The UN meets in September.  Key decisions will likely be made.  Will we be on the right side of history or the wrong side?

Watch Israel

I don’t know about you, but as for me and many of my friends there is a sense that something really big is about to happen.  A turning point in human history is about to take place and for the awake and alert there is a feeling that we ought to be prepared but also a frustration in not knowing how to prepare for what is going to occur.  And so, we keep on keeping on – working as we’ve always worked, but with a greater sense of urgency that the work may soon be over so we must keep to the plow while it is still light.

Night is falling.  Make no mistake.  Matt Ward highlighted this in his article on the Rapture Ready website; where he pretty much declared that the nation had so thumbed its nose at God that he no longer had hope that God would save her.  Personally, I can not imagine why He would.  Still, the book on our nation is not yet closed – even though His hand rests on the cover.  Why do I know this?  Simply because we are still here.  I’m still writing freely.  I may be being recorded, who knows, but the truth is still being disseminated – the gospel is still being preached openly – and people are still being saved.  But, for how much longer?  What will be the tipping point?

Street Evangelism

I go to a most unusual church. In this country, it is more normal to find churches that center around their own community, their own comfort, and stick pretty much to themselves. It is very unusual to find any church that has an active program of trying to reach the lost for Christ outside of a missions program. The philosophy is if we “market” ourselves to the world, the world will embrace us. Churches leave out the more controversial aspects of Scripture and preach nothing but positive uplifting messages. So, when you see a church like Morning Star that has an active visitation program, has an active Street Evangelism ministry, has an active TV & Radio ministry and preaches strictly from Scripture whether the passage is joyful or whether it speaks of judgment and calls for repentance – you are witnessing something quite unusual in our day and age. You’re witnessing a church that in at least some aspects is trying to follow the New Testament model.

We are now living in a post-Christian America. The gospel message is becoming increasingly unpopular. And, as many pastors are sitting in the comforts of their own assemblies, preaching a soft message to a friendly crowd, America is dying and going to Hell. For many, that last statement probably made you roll your eyes. If you profess Christ, I would have to ask you why? Why would it make you roll your eyes? Why would it make you uncomfortable? Have I said something untrue?

Jesus, whom many preach as being nothing but love and tolerance did the politically-incorrect thing by referring to national tragedies and using those events to try to call people to repent.

In Luk 13:1-5, we read:
1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Likewise, did you know Jesus spoke often about Hell (and not always in the most genteel manner). He instructed His followers to go and tell the world and warned them that people would not like the message. In Luke 10 we read:

10 But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,11 Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.12 But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.13 Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
14 But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.15 And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be thrust down to hell.16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.

This is what Morning Star Baptist Church is trying to do. They are trying to go tell others about Jesus, not in some covert way but in a way that gets their attention because time is short. America is disintegrating before our eyes. People are turning from Christianity and the Christian message in droves. A lot of times what is said may appear shocking but you have to realize, these guys don’t have hours to reason with people. At most, most of what they have is a few seconds to get out a message to let the Holy Spirit work on hearts. The world has heard the God is love message. They love that message. It allows them to march on in sin and go down that broad path that most of the world thinks will lead to eternal life. They don’t like the, no, you’re not okay without Christ message. They are not okay with the “you must turn from your sin to Christ” message or you will die and face a Christ-less eternity in Hell. It’s not popular.

Our guys have been spit at. Our guys have had coffee thrown at them. They have been physically assaulted. They have had coins thrown at them. They have been mocked. They have received threats. They have been stalked on Facebook and cussed out via the church’s phone. And you know who their number one critic is? It isn’t the people who do not claim affiliation with Christ. It’s Christians. Christians will say horrible things to them, try to make them stop preaching, and accuse them of being a cult.

If you look at our statement of faith, we are very orthodox in our belief. Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Jesus Christ our Lord. We’re not working for our salvation because we know without Jesus we’re nothing. All of my righteousness is as filthy rags. It’s dung. I needed a Savior because I’m a horrible sinner and without His righteousness applied to my life, I would never see God and I would be heading towards Hell. We all know that. And we want the world to know that same freedom and truth.

When we say people will go to Hell we’re accused of hate. In reality, it would be hate if we didn’t tell them. Oh, many of you will say to yourself, I can’t be like that, I’ll lose them. I see. So, it’s better to keep them and watch them go to Hell never having been told than to lose them and perhaps make them think about something besides the moment?

Please Christians, wake up. You don’t have to do it like Morning Star. Our church is very bold and that is not everyone’s personality. God works with all sorts of personalities. And this is a very good thing. And, if He saved you, He expects you to tell others. Do not be silent. Do not tell half the story. Work because the hour is coming where we will not be able to work and then it will be very difficult to get the real gospel out at all.

Preachers, get out of your comfort zones. Pastoring is a hard job. I have had the privilege of being close friends with most of my pastors and I see what you go through. I was a church secretary so I know what the church office faces. You have a hard job. But, your job doesn’t stop at the church doors. There are people in your communities who need to hear the gospel.

On 4th of July, Morning Star was the only presence out at some parades where the whole community was gathered telling people that Jesus saves. Telling them they need to repent before it’s too late. And yeah, they had a very rough time and they were hated. People turned their backs on them. And so far, nobody that we know of was saved. But a few nights before, they went to a witches party at Ault park and never got to preach because God had readied them a crowd who wanted to know and wanted to hear. One soul was saved and God is working on another.

Jesus did not call us to ease. He called us to be His witnesses. If you are a Christian and you are not doing this then you’re not living up to your purpose for being here. Rick Warren made a lot of money on his Purpose Driven series – but that book was not the truth. It sent many preachers forward with the idea that they should be marketeers to specific demographics. That is not the Bible.

2Ti 4:2-5 says:
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

Brothers and sisters, that time is now. Are you going to fulfill your purpose???

So this is how liberty dies…with thunderous applause

-George Lucas

The month of June 2015 will go down as one of the most significant and dark times in American history.  In mid-June, the nation was shocked as a young man mercilessly took the lives of 9 parishioners in a AME church in Charleston, South Carolina.  Out of that event came both great promise and great sorrow as Americans embraced one another, as brothers and sisters with no regard to race, and mourned the tragic loss.

Sadly, also out of that event came a call to get rid of anything that would remind one of the Civil War South – the Confederate Battle Flag, statues of Confederate figures, and ultimately, even old glory.  Amazon, Ebay, Walmart, and many others quickly declared they would no longer sell the battle flag  in their businesses, even though Nazi paraphernalia and even ISIS flags are apparently still available.

Meanwhile, while we were arguing about the meaning of the Confederate flag and the free speech issues with its forced erasure from history, the Trans-Pacific Partnership bill passed by Congress and was sent to President Obama’s desk for signing.  The bill, negotiated in secret, gives the President fast track authority in treaty negotiations and denies Congress the ability to amend or change any agreements to best represent their constituents interests.  Its critics say that it essentially makes the President “King.”  Talk about fundamental transformation!

Finally, not to be outdone, the SCOTUS had to stick their proverbial finger in America’s eye  twice by actually rewriting unconstitutional provisions within Obamacare, effectively saving the gift that keeps on giving on one day, and then inventing a Constitutional right to homosexual marriage the next.  Justice Roberts said of the decision “The majority’s decision is an act of will, not legal judgment.”  And a man I will miss, Judge Antonin Scalia had several terse comments concerning the majority judgment.

“Today’s decree says that my Ruler, and the Ruler of 320 million Americans coast-to-coast, is a majority of the nine lawyers on the Supreme Court,” he writes.

“This practice of constitutional revision by an unelected committee of nine, always accompanied (as it is today) by extravagant praise of liberty, robs the People of the most important liberty they asserted in the Declaration of Independence and won in the Revolution of 1776: the freedom to govern themselves.”

He also writes:

“To allow the policy question of same-sex marriage to be considered and resolved by a select, patrician, highly unrepresentative panel of nine is to violate a principle even more fundamental than no taxation without representation: no social transformation without representation,”

Finally, just today, I read of 6 black churches, in the midst of all of this national chaos, being torched by arsonists and two more parting shots from the Supremes during this session: Texas’ abortion law which would have shut down many clinics has been put on hold by the court and the court refused to hear a case about whether or not voters would have to prove citizenship before they could vote in US elections.

All in all, you could say the month of June has been like the close of an epic tragedy painted in rainbow hues.  Liberty has suffered several blows, some no doubt mortal.  America is more divided today than ever.  We sit around as some are trying to orchestrate a race war and as Washington has ceased to care what we the people think.

The America we knew is gone.  She is morphing into something the founders never envisioned.  And, for Christians, the journey may be about to become quite rocky.  If our hope were in man or even in country, we would be in despair.  Still, we know that whatever may come, we serve a God who’s got this.  Let’s take time to reflect upon what it is He wants us to do and say in a post-Christian USA.

Thus Shall It Be Part 6: Return of the Nephilim

??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. – Daniel 7:8

As I revisit this topic tonight, I can’t help but be amazed at the point that our world has come to.  On this day, in the U.S. Congress, the world witnessed the leader of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, pleading with members of the House and the Senate to stop what threatens to be another Holocaust of the Jewish people in the form of an Iranian regime armed with nuclear weapons.  Many cheered the great stateman, as they took a stand solidly for Israel; yet, others, on both sides of the aisle. appeared tempered in their applause – sometimes not showing agreement at all.  It was as if one could see the wheels turning “how will this look to my constituents?  to the leadership? ”  WHO CARES YOU MORONS!  THIS IS LIFE OR DEATH! SHOW SOME CONCERN!!!!

Congressional reaction aside, one can not help but notice in this time of terroristic threat – the message that seems to sell the most is peace.  Peace.  What we won’t do for peace!  Oh, perhaps if we play nicey nice to the Ayatollah, he will play nicey nice with us and we can have peace.  This indeed seems to be Mr. Obama’s key foreign policy approach.  If it shows an inclination towards terror – try to placate it.  Don’t go out too strong against it.  Oh, sanction it maybe but work with it.  Negotiate with it.  Surely, it is misunderstood.  You know, maybe it just needs a nice jobs program and it will get over its bad attitude.

But, Mr. Obama will not succeed and in all likelihood neither will Bibi Netanyahu – because bad guys are always going to be bad guys and one day soon Iran will attack Israel.  Ezekiel 38 tells us that.  And, she will come with a band of other marauders on the mountains of Israel in hopes of taking a spoil.  Ominously missing are a few key nations – Syria for one.  Israel’s historic enemy is nowhere to be seen?  Did Isaiah 17 happen?  That’s what I would presume.  But also missing is the U.S. and her allied nations.  Maybe the young lions are the US (as I think they are) – but where is Israel’s friend?  where is Israel’s big brother?  Reduced.  Reduced to a mere diplomatic protest.  “Have you come to take a spoil?”  Neutered.  Superpower no more.

And so, Israel will go it alone – at least amongst the nations.  Oh – but she is not alone!!!  She is never alone!  For the God of Israel is not dead nor does He sleep.  He sees. And, He will avenge!  There is a day where all this threatening of Israel will taken care of – quite decisively – and the world will know that the Lord is God.  And the princes of Persia and all who ally themselves against Israel will have a very very bad day.

But then what?  Well – peace.  Peace on every hand.  Israel’s enemies destroyed, she will rest in peace – but it is only illusory. For though she has witnessed the defeat of one historic enemy she will be faced with another more powerful and evil than has ever been witnessed – and she will pay a horrible horrible price for her trust in him.  Great will be the tears in Israel in that day.  And yet, she will not be utterly destroyed.  For 1/3 of all Israel will survive and witness the appearance of her Messiah.  And she will look upon Him whom she has pierced and she will mourn.  Yet, he will wipe away her tears and embrace her fully and she shall be His people and He will be her God and we will be brothers and sisters with the remnant of Israel forevermore. Praise the Lord!  I pray all people reading this blog will be there as well.

Until that time, however, the world is going to go through Hell – quite literally.

This time of longing for peace will be met by a man who promises peace.  And the people will follow him.  Or at least, they will follow his image.

Here is what I think could be a possible scenario of what is coming down the pike.  It ties quite nicely in with everything we have learned thus far.  And, it may be a little paradigm shifting for some.  But, here is what I think might occur.

The AntiChrist will arise from somewhere in the Middle Eastern/Mediterranean realm.  How do I know this?  Well, from Scripture.  Revelation 17:10-11  says:

And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.

John was writing this sometime around 90 AD while exiled on Patmos during the Roman Empire.  From his perspective, there were 5 great world empires that had already fallen.  Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece.  The one that ‘is’ would be Rome.  And then, there would be another yet to come. This empire would continue just a short time before the 8th kingdom would arise – that of the AntiChrist.  And where would he hail from?  The Bible is not specific as to country of origin; but it does say he is of the other 7.

So, in my simple mind, all I need to do is look at where all the empires intersect and I will have a general region from whence the antiChrist has his origin.  I have illustrated that area on the following map:

Antichrist birthSo, assuming that is right, it appears he’s from a very narrow tract of area that encompassed parts of all the major world empires.  That he is called the Assyrian may imply he is from the area from Southern Turkey through Syria as well.  And that he is a “little horn” seems to say he doesn’t come on the stage as a major world player.  Do I know who he is?  I would not make that claim, though people I respect have noted several interesting candidates – the time of his revelation is yet future.  Still, I think we can rule some folks out.

What happens once he is in power will prove interesting.  First, it appears he wipes out 3 other kings somehow and he comes in as both the peacemaker and the conqueror. Kinda reminds me of Hitler.  All the while making treaties in an effort to expand his domain.  Throngs will flock to him, ignoring Scripture, and will love him.  And tiny Israel will make a deal with him as well.  Possibly in exchange for rebuilding their temple, they will sign onto his covenant and most will believe peace has finally come.  Then, sudden destruction.

At some point during his reign, it looks like he suffers a deadly head wound and that wound is healed.  Miracle?  False sign and wonder is more like it because only God can give life.  But the sign will be convincing.  What could possibly cause all of the world to buy into this false miracle? I believe we have a possible clue again in the pages of Scripture.

Our Opening passage says : I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. – Daniel 7:8

His eyes were like the eyes of a man – but it doesn’t say they were the eyes of a man.

Going to a parallel passage in Revelation 13, we see the AntiChrist again through verse 10 and then starting in verse 11 we read:

11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.12 And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.13 And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

18 Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

What is going on here?  We have the beast.  He has received a deadly head wound.  Presumed a gonner, the wound is healed and he is revealed as the blasphemous monster he is.  His eyes are like unto a man but they aren’t the eyes of a man.  To me, there are three possibilities here.  1) They are the eyes of a demon indwelling a man or 2)they are the eyes of a transhumanist robot (i.e., bionic eyes) or most likely – both.

Today, I was looking at more of what DARPA is doing with robotics and they are very active in pursuing robotic consciousness.  They are primed for it even.  In the video they speak of training the robots to do things with an expected end hoping to so train them that the robots will start acting on their own and do things they weren’t expecting.  Since there is an element of the supernatural here, what is to say that a beloved world figure gets a mortal head wound – the false prophet (who is the second beast) orders that experimental transhumanist robotics be reinserted into him to save and meld with the essence of the human being they are about to lose?  Then, with the world looking on, Satan supernaturally empowers him so as to make it appear that the scheme has worked beyond everyone’s wildest dream.  The resulting being would not be the original but would be an image of the original – and all the world would fall down and worship or die.

But there is more, and here comes the tie on the bow.  What if, having seen this transformation from human to superhuman – humanity is sold the promise that they too can be as he is.  They can be as gods?  Take of the forbidden.  Experience immortality.  All..you..need…is a little nano-chip that will reprogram your DNA so as to make you immortal.  Undo the curse.  Fulfill the Genesis 3 promise.  Fulfill the Genesis 6 experiment.  Defeat God.  How many do you think would go for it?

Today, there are many companies in a race to create nanotechnology which will reprogram our DNA to get rid of disease.  Got a cancer gene?  We can fix that.  Degenerative disease?  We will stop and reverse it.  Healthy but want to do more?  We will give you an exoskeleton at first but ultimately we will download your mind and put it in a hardware shell that isn’t so susceptible to thing like death.  You will live forever.  Science fiction?  Well…set your google alerts – it’s real and it’s upon us.

Human beings want to shake off the conscience that God gave them and pursue their own lusts.  It is becoming more an more blatant.  I believe that part of the mark will be the promise of immortality and that it will come very possibly through the kind of experimentation we see today.

Will they succeed?  At first.  God will give them a measure of success so as that they would believe the lie who suppressed the truth in unrighteousness.  And in Revelation 6 when they cry to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.”  there will be no place to hide.  And when this verse is fulfilled “And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (Revelation 9:6).”  It will be God saying “You wanted to live and not die?  You got your wish.”  Their attempt at godhood will be met with God’s scoff and their damnation will be assured.

As iron mixed with clay can not cleave to itself so when “they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.”  Who is they?  The same ones who spawned the Nephilim – returned for a second try at it – but their doom is sure.

And so it shall be.  As in the days of Noah – so shall it be when the Son of God returns.  He will set all things right and He will judge the evil which the world has wrought and forever reign in victory.  Praise His Holy Name!

And Thus Shall It Be, Part 5 – Technological Tyranny in the Hands of General Himmler – Military Monstrosities

Chaim and Haddassah ran breathlessly through the forests near their home in the Carpathian Mountains.  Unable to continue on, they huddled in the shadows of a fallen pine.  Shaken, cold, and bleeding, they knew this was the end of their road together and looked at one another intently as the only sounds they heard was the sound of their breathing, their pounding hearts and the sicking “foot steps” of the beast that was coming their way.  “Będę kochać cię na zawsze, mój aniele”, Chaim whispered to the shivering Haddasah as her eyes brimmed with tears.  “Będę kochać cię mój książę” she replied as the metallic monster approached just yards away.  Chaim tenderly kissed Haddassah’s forehead and held her close as long as he possibly could until they heard the beast’s metal claws grab hold of the tree.  This was it.  Months of running were now at an end and they had lost their quest to live.  The end was here, and in a way it was a relief, because the horrors of the days which had preceded it were now at an end.  No more horror.  No more pain.  No more death. No more fear.  In a moment they would be in the arms of Yeshuah Hameshiach and all would be changed.  And then it was there.  As Chaim felt the steely grip of the monster’s strong claws grasp his waist and pull him away, he looked into Haddassah’s eyes one last time and heard her cry out “Wreszcie Bezpłatne”  And then there was blackness, and then there was light, and then there was life evermore.  He was home.

Sound like fiction? It is.  But could it become reality?  Perhaps.

Any reader who who watches the news will note the plethora of articles about the coming age of robots that have been in the popular press in recent days.  Matt Drudge has alerted us to them many times; and such robotics, be they for domestic or for military purposes, are usually painted as being a good thing; and, in a lot of cases, that is right.  Robotic hands that perform intricate surgery, for instance, may be of great benefit to humankind – helping to avoid accidents that have cost both financially and in terms of human life.  But what about military machines that take a licking and keep on ticking (such as Boston Dynamics “LS3” workhorse.)  Is that what we really want?  After all, anything the “good guys” have, the “bad guys” are bound to follow up with (if they haven’t invented it first and defense cuts put us behind the curve as is increasingly becoming likely).

But artificial robotics in the form of mechanical monsters isn’t where things are stopping.  DARPA, the military’s think tank, is actively supporting human augmentation in the form of external devices and some would say internal genetic manipulation to create a military force with capability beyond what we know as “human.”  The last charge is no empty claim.   DARPA has called for experimentation with human genetics and has noted the importance to military goals of being able to introduce new information into the human genome for military purposes.

Sound intriguing?  or sound scary?

The wiser man gets the more dangerous he becomes.  The more dangerous he becomes the closer we get to the day that the real Creator will pull him up by his bootstraps and show him who is boss.  Any “good” technology can be used with nefarious intent.  Without a Christian worldview guiding such experimentation, it can be guaranteed that at some point – it will be.

So – in terms of military – look for the day in the not so distant future that machines can track you down and get at you regardless where you are at (I have no information that says we are here yet, but with drone technology and advanced robotics I can’t imagine us being far from this mark) and human non-humans will have capabilities beyond that which any human being ever imagined.  And they will all be controlled by a benevolent government with only good in mind.  We hope.  And, they hope.

Scary stuff folks.  What does it all mean?  Well…look for that in the next post.

And Thus Shall It Be, Part 4 – Technological Tyranny in the Hands of Dr. Frankenstein – Medical Manipulation

sphinxMuch has been written about the potential dangers in the realm of Transhumanism; but, for readers unfamiliar with exactly what is involved in this futurist pursuit, here is a quick primer on some of the things that the Transhumanists have been able to do along with some of their plans for the future.

I. Medicine & Pharmaceuticals

In the area of medicine, transhumanist innovations have been many.  One underlying tenet of tranhumanistic study is this idea that human beings have limited, flawed, and sometimes breakable hardware shells that transhumanism can help fix or, to go one step further, upgrade.  Much of the work being done here is very good and helpful; and, many of the researchers, doctors and inventors of these technologies would probably not classify themselves as transhumanists.  However, their underlying philosophy has its spot to one degree or another in the transhumanistic world.

Some examples of this technology are things such as cochlear implants to make the deaf hear, prosthetic arms for those who have lost limbs, artificial hearts and even in vitro fertilization.  In each of these cases, the technological breakthrough takes from the human body that wasn’t functioning properly or wasn’t there period and develops a capability that person did not have.  While there are a few issues with the last technology mentioned, in general and in theory these technologies are good and beneficial to mankind.  They are, for the most part, as benign as a peg-leg was 200 years ago and are helpful additions to the medical arena.  That said, man never seems to be satisfied with his achievements and always wants to push things one step further; and herein lies the problem.

Medical science has not been content with helping infertile couples have children through fertilizing their babies outside the womb; they have had to start creating their own type of babies through genetic engineering.  Down syndrome babies a problem?  Hey, we have a test where you can see whether your baby is going to be undesirable and eliminate the problem before it occurs.  Have a particularly ugly gene in your own genetic makeup that you don’t want your baby to inherit?  That’s fine, we’ll just introduce another person’s mitochondrial DNA in vitro and solve that issue.  The resulting child will be 99% the genetic offspring of the requesting parents and .1% that of a female donor.  All subsequent generations will also inherit this genetic mixture.  And even though any potential risks of this kind of manipulations are at this point unknown; because we want to and because we can and because we’ve sold it to the general public – we’re plowing forward into the great unknown and going for it.  Note these articles.

‘Three-parent babies’ could be born in Britain next year’

FDA panel debates technique that would create embryos with three genetic parents

One advocate of the method also notes the risk.  Medical Ethicist, Art Caplan states:

“The big issue over the next 5 to 10 years is going to become how far do we go in pursuit of the perfect baby,” said Caplan. “Do I think we’re going down that road? Yes. Does it creep me out? Yes. Are you going to be able to draw a clear line? I don’t think so.” ( FDA considering 3-parent embryos )

Advocates say it isn’t eugenics, and perhaps under the strictest interpretation it isn’t.  After all, they are attempting to save lives not destroy lives.  Nevertheless, in practice this will likely be what it becomes even if on an embryonic level.  Scientists will take the most desirable of their genetic creations and destroy the rejects.   From curing disease, it will evolve into creating better humans with greater capabilities.   When Pandora’s box is opened (and it likely is already opened), it is just about guaranteed that it will not be able to be closed again.  Where it ends is anyone’s guess; but, they are playing with fire to be sure.

Still, the medical manipulation doesn’t stop there.  In an effort to create non-human test subjects for things such as pharmaceuticals, scientists have now gone beyond what people once thought was possible and are creating hybrid beings or chimeras.  These hybrids take human DNA and animal DNA and intermix kinds (again, where have we heard this before?).  Using genetic engineering, a firm in New Jersey as early as 1991 created pigs which produce human hemoglobin, in Shanghai, they have fused human embryos with rabbit embryos (and allowed the resulting chimera to live for several days), Mayo Clinic produced pigs with human blood, London is pursuing human-cow embryos for their stem cell value, the University of Reno-Nevada has produced sheep with human organs (including brains) making creatures that were 15% human, and Stanford University created mice with 1/4 human brain cells.  In fact, an article from 2011 noted 150 animal-human hybrids had been created and destroyed in the UK at that time raising all sorts of questions from theological to ethical to legal.  For instance, holding back on the theological considerations for a bit, legally, if something is part human, does it have the legal rights of a human?  At what point does it gain these rights?  Is experimentation even ethical?  What laws need to be written to protect hybrids from abuse?  All of these things are being actively discussed.

Legal and ethical issues aren’t the only thing that scientists have to be concerned with.  One telling article told of what was found when scientists examined the DNA of pig-human hybrids.  They found that the resulting creature was truly intermingled down deeply within the DNA and that this would influence things such as animal-human organ transplantation and even epidemiology.  If animal-human DNA could be fused in such a way, they surmised that perhaps the stem-cells from an infected animal merged with human stem cells resulting in the AIDs epidemic.  Indeed, they also found that by mixing the two types of DNA cells, virus previously only affecting pigs could now be transferred to humans.  What box has Pandora opened?

Finally, there is also a move afoot in the medical realm that doesn’t involve human-animal hybrids at all.  There is this idea of nano-technology in which scientists hope to one day reprogram the DNA of human beings to overcome certain genetic diseases.  Beyond that, they also hope to augment humans into something beyond what they are today (we will discuss more about that in coming posts).  In these cases, the internal DNA of humans would not be human only, but a mixture of human and machine. In their minds, it would be a step to push homo sapiens to the next step in his evolution.

Scripturally, there are many things to consider, the least of which is do these things have a soul?  Are they able to be saved?  I believe in both instances, the answer is no.  In the book of Genesis, we see where God breathed and man became a living soul.  These creatures are beings that God did not create, so why would they have a soul?  We see further evidence in that with the hybrids in Scripture, the Nephilim, there was no attempt to save, evangelize, or otherwise reason with these chimeras.  Often, God instructed His people to utterly wipe them out.  I believe this was not an arbitrary decision on His behalf.

Second, I find this idea of the transference of disease quite interesting.  Revelation 6:8 says “And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.”  Might our genetic manipulation play a part in this?  We already have several instances where ugly diseases such as Ebola and AIDs have transferred from animals to humans, and clearly mixing the DNA of beasts with humans makes this even easier.  Might there come a time where this experimentation becomes more widespread and a resulting judgment is that humans become the beneficiaries of deadly plagues?

There is so much more to discuss, and I’ll try to bring it out in the posts to come.  We’re in truly bizarre territory here – but perhaps not new.  Was this part of what the Angels who fell were doing in Genesis 6?  There is no new thing under the sun.  Is Satan attempting a sequel?  Stay tuned.

Thus Shall It Be…Part 3

‘The real destiny of Man is something that ordinary men could not conceive and would be unable to comprehend, even if given a glimpse of it.
Our revolution is a final stage in an evolution that will end by abolishing history. It is my ultimate aim to perform an act of creation, a divine operation, the goal of a biological mutation which will result in an unprecedented exaltation of the human race and the appearance of a new race of heroes, demi-gods and god-men. – Adolf Hitler

And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. – Genesis 11:4

The history of man is a history of rebellion. From the moment Eve tasted of the fruit even to today, human beings have been attempting to determine their own fate, set their own course, and be their own god. All false religion is based upon this precept, whether that religion believes that we can become gods or not. God has set forth His plan. He has accomplished the basis of it through the shed blood of His Son so that all we need to do is recognize His Lordship over us and we will be free and have eternal life – but even today, man seeks to go another way. He follows after a plan of his own making; and, it is a plan which is destined for failure.
Such was the case with Adolf Hitler. As a history major with an emphasis in European history, one of my favorite courses in my undergrad years was the History of Nazi Germany. It was a study of human psychology and historical events that to me had great theological significance as well. Here we say man’s depravity on full display and here was see a repetition of the days of Noah. How so? Oh, the players were different but the concepts were definitely the same.

In Germany in the 1930s and 40s, you had a people who elevated a man to a place where he was considered the Savior of humanity. You had a rejection of God’s standards and a pressing forward to some new path – a path of man’s own making. You had a resurgence in looking towards the gods for guidance. You had the promise of future glory as a motivation – just as the people of Babel sought after – the people of Germany looked to make a name for themselves. And, you had Satan, old splitfoot, attempting once again to ruin God’s plan – to wipe out God’s people – and to set himself up as ruler over humanity.

In prepping for this blog, I sat down and read a good bit of Hitler’s infamous work, Mein Kamph. Concise is not a word I would use for the Fuhrer; rather, the terms evil genius and raving lunatic simultaneously come to mind when I think about what I read. The section that I delved into was his section on the role of race in human history. Hitler was of the mindset that in the glory days there was a race of superhumans akin to Friedrich Nietzsche’s Übermensch, popularized as supermen, who were superior to the humanity of his day and only died out because they had mixed their blood with that of inferior races. These Übermensch were the great builders of culture in times past and were responsible for the art and literature and architecture and glory of all which came before. If there was culture in the present day, it was a reflection of the influence of these supermen upon the earth; and, it was Hitler’s expressed goal to try to get back to the times of these supermen, whom he referred to as Aryans (and who had little in common with the actual Aryans who ultimately settled in Northern India) through the use of eugenics throughout Germany and the world. It was his plan to backbreed those of purer stock so that the Aryan parts flourished, and to obliterate parasites in society such as Jews who only served to corrupt the gene pool. To accomplish this, he of course first segregated the Jews into ghettos (and later into concentration camps for extermination) while setting up his Lebensborn program which bred the desirable racially pure races and adopted racially pure orphans. By this genetic manipulation, he promised the German people, demoralized from a World War 1 defeat, that they would once again be on top and that life would be grand. In fact, he went one step further and invoked the idea of a return to the gods and demigods in his spiel – which, from our point of view shows precisely where his inspiration came from.

Bundesarchiv_Bild_102-04062A,_Nürnberg,_Reichsparteitag,_SA-_und_SS-AppellAnd, he was able to deliver results – at least for a while. Economically and socially depressed, through the policies of Hitler and some fortuitous trends in society as a whole, Germany was among the first to climb out of the hole of the Great Depression and set itself on a path towards economic prosperity. It must have been very difficult at that time not to get wrapped up in the hype and the glamour of Hitler’s accomplishments and massive theatrical spectacles of his appearances such as the Nuremberg rally – where he was presented with such great pomp so as to invoke a godlike stature that would make most of the dictators of history envious.

He took advantage of this public worship and used it to do the unthinkable. Of course, I believe the man was demon possessed; but, what of society? Supposedly civilized Germany went right along with his rounding up of dissidents, extermination of the Jews and others, forced sterilization of those he considered genetically flawed and dictatorial ways. Sure, many probably did so because they wanted to survive themselves; however, that in itself says a lot. In Hitler, we had full-scale human evil – and nobody but the allied armies was able to stop him – and many simply had no desire to. He promised the moon, and delivered much of it. The German people’s lives improved greatly from the days where they were wheeling their wages home in wheelbarrows. Amazing what people will do for a little prosperity. They will vote in the devil himself if it brings peace and prosperity. Hitler didn’t hide his views; but the people excused them and went with him any way. Any lack of peace they had was only temporary for their Fuhrer had to make a few adjustments to the world structure before his full dream could be realized. The world needed hope and change and he provided it – at least for a while – at least on the surface – at least if you weren’t Jewish or evangelical Christian or dissenting Catholic or mentally disabled or homosexual or anyone he didn’t agree with.

And so, WWII closed with a society witnessing the horrors that were Nazi Germany and they all of one accord said “never again.” But, sadly, we don’t teach that history any more and so a generation of young people are graduating with no conception of how bad things can go and a naive outlook on where leadership without God can take us. The phrase, “those who learn nothing from history are doomed to repeat it” has never been more true than it is today. The scary thing is we at least had a Judeo-Christian America to stand up and go against the tide in those days. Do we have that today? Not by a long shot.

So, we’re poised. We’re poised to accept the promise. We’re poised to follow a leader. And when the right crisis comes along, we’re poised to throw caution to the wind and embrace anything that will bring us hope. We will joyfully exult in gaining the whole world, reaching our full human potential and beyond – even if it means losing our soul. Danger lies ahead. Some very dangerous trends are beginning to repeat. Is anyone listening?

Many aren’t – even though the signposts are all around them. For example, futurist Ray Kurzweil envisions a day coming very soon where we will not die. He envisions a Utopia where man merges with machine and if there is an illness in one’s system, a nanobot or some other implanted technology will go fix it. He sees this as the next step in human evolution and boldly proclaims that not only is he not going to die, but that he’s going to bring the dead back to life. He is so engrossed in these technologies that he really believes he will bring his late father back to life. Kurzweil is very brilliant, and very naive.

On the flip side, men such as retired artificial intelligence researcher Hugo de Garis fully realize the risk, but forge ahead anyway. De Garis said, “I’m predicting there will be a major war, late 21st century, between two human groups. So one group, they will argue that the only way to insure the risk [of artificially intelligent machines destroying mankind] is zero, is that they’re never built in the first place. But the second group, for them it will be almost like a religion to build these things because they will be godlike. And so you’ve got here the source of a bitter conflict between these two human groups. Then with late 21st century weapons, you’re talking about a major war that will kill not millions of people, but billions. As a brain builder myself, am I prepared to risk the extinction of the human species for the sake of building an artilect? Because that’s what it comes down to….[deep exaggerated breath followed by a slight grin]… yep!” (Quote directly taken from the film Transcendent Man 2009, Barry Ptolemy, director).

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk quipped about a potential existential danger to humanity with Artificial Intelligences (AIs) “If its [function] is just something like getting rid of e-mail spam and it determines the best way of getting rid of spam is getting rid of humans . . . ”

Some are so concerned that they are beginning to explore the possibility of programming morality into the AIs. They are so serious about it that in an article entitled : Now The Military Is Going To Build Robots That Have Morals , Patrick Tucker at defenseone.com notes:

“The Office of Naval Research will award $7.5 million in grant money over five years to university researchers from Tufts, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Brown, Yale and Georgetown to explore how to build a sense of right and wrong and moral consequence into autonomous robotic systems.” He also notes: “Some members of the artificial intelligence, or AI, research and machine ethics communities were quick to applaud the grant. “With drones, missile defines, autonomous vehicles, etc., the military is rapidly creating systems that will need to make moral decisions,” AI researcher Steven Omohundro told Defense One. “Human lives and property rest on the outcomes of these decisions and so it is critical that they be made carefully and with full knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of the systems involved. The military has always had to define ‘the rules of war’ and this technology is likely to increase the stakes for that.”

Still, the question is whose morailty would they be programmed to have? In the same article, AI Robotics expert and critic, Noel Sharkey said “I do not think that they will end up with a moral or ethical robot,” Sharkey told Defense One. “For that we need to have moral agency. For that we need to understand others and know what it means to suffer. The robot may be installed with some rules of ethics but it won’t really care. It will follow a human designer’s idea of ethics.”

As smart as robots may become, any “morality” they have is simply going to be encoded in them from their designer’s set standards. Moral decisions interpreted by an American with a western mindset may be considerably different than the moral decisions of a Jihadist; and history shows that any technology that we obtain with some useful military purpose (which is one of the uses of robots and AIs the military is reportedly exploring) will shortly find itself being used by the other side for less pleasant purposes. So, one may imagine not only a war between human opponents but between transhuman and post human opponents who reflect the same mindset as their creators only they are intellectually exponentially smarter, more powerful, and have greater life-spans. Some are even working to where nano-technology will make them self-healing. Hmmmm, “men” living for 1000 years and pursuing anything his heart wishes without fear of death or judgment? What could possibly go wrong?

Another criticism of this brave new world they are leading us to is that of population control. With men living longer and longer and being able to procreate longer and longer they are either going to have to createa scenario where we will not need the things that today are required for us to live (water, food, medicine, oxygen) or restrict the ability to reproduce. This latter point is being discussed quite openly as an August article from Wired online declares “It’s time to consider restricting human breeding.” Here, futurist Zoltan Istvan states “Given the number of children that starve each day, dwindling planetary resources and the coming transhumanist era, it might be time to consider restricting human breeding.”

Master races of intelligent beings…

Programmed moral standards with a militaristic bent…

Restricted human breeding…

Where have we heard all this before?

Of course, the whole move towards changing human beings into something not human is not new. It has its beginning in the book of Genesis promise in chapter 2 “ye shall be as gods.” and  chapter 6 with the fallen angel’s rebellion against God. Futurists like Kurzweil disavow the very existence of God and instead relegate Him to the area of “metaphor” or something that they have yet to create. Ignoring the curse, and boldly proclaiming the goals they will achieve and what year they expect to achieve them, these mere mortals are the kind of folks that Psalm 2 talks about.

2 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

God’s answer to them will be the same as then:

4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.

10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

The rebellion and arrogance and delusion of man knows no end. Satanically inspired, these men and women who can’t even keep a networked computer free from teenaged hackers in their mother’s basements believe they are going to create gods and demigods? Amazing! It would be laughable if the movement wasn’t gaining such steam.

Where do I think this is all heading? Stay tuned for the next few posts.

Thus shall it be…Part 2

The days of Noah were marked by violence and forbidden alliances.  They were marked by perversion and idolatry.  It was a time where evil was exulted at every hand and, in all humanity, only righteous Noah and his family were able to escape from the judgment which fell upon the earth.

During the first several weeks on this blog, we looked in depth at what the situation was like during those days and made a case that Satan was trying to disrupt the plan of God by setting himself up as creator and corrupting the human gene pool.  This idea is not unique and several authors such as Tom Horn, L.A. Marzulli, Gary Stearman, Chris Putnam, & Russ Dizdar spend a lot of time in their writings expounding on this time and history and on the time which is coming upon us now.  I draw a lot from these men and their ideas, though I try to do my own research so as to not just repeat what they have put forward. Still I give credit to each of these men.  I may not be 100% in theological agreement with them on every matter, but on this topic they are guaranteed to make you think outside the box and are very good at tying the bow on that same box.

What is it about modern days that they have discovered and have passed on to researchers such as myself through their teachings?  In short, they have highlighted what is being done what in plain sight that most people are oblivious to – the age of transhumanism and the quest for an immortal post-human reality.  This is not made up stuff.   When I started this blog, I set up Google alerts to send me stories related to the topic.  They appear daily.  And as I look for the latest news on sites like Drudge report, I am witnessing the increasingly frequent emphasis on articles relating to the topic as well.

What is going on?  Well, in a world of Evolutionary thinking – the fittest are trying to survive.  Modern science and philosophy is trying to come up with ways to cure diseases and ultimately to set up the next stage of human evolution – a robotic era where you exist in software form with a downloaded mind, personality, and set of experiences in a hardware body (i.e., a robot or a virtual avatar).    The robot breaks down, all they do is transfer you to another shell.  The fact that we can’t even seem to get bugless versions of operating systems right doesn’t seem to affect their utopian viewpoint that all of this is possible; and, they forge ahead with their quest in spite of many voices warning of the dangers and the shaky ethics of the whole premise.

Let the Programming Begin

Transhumanism is here to stay as industry leaders and world visionaries not only continue to collaborate on what this future world will look like but subtly condition societies mind for its eventual introduction.  Take for instance a commercial for the Droid DNA phone by HTC.  In the video, a man walks into futuristic laboratory where he sits in a chair to receive his dna augmentation.  As he sits there, his right arm is injected with the substance that literally goes in and reprograms his DNA giving him super speed and super intelligence.  The commercial ends… “Predicted intelligence with Google Now Complete.  Introducing Droid DNA by HTC.  It’s not an upgrade to your phone, its an upgrade to yourself”

The follow-on commercial is more of the same.  Making a better man through technological manipulation. Upgrading oneself.  Being who you were created to be but better – with super strength, super speed, super intelligence.  Hmmmm, where have we heard that before?

Another commercial for IBM E-Business shows what shopping in the future may be like as an enhanced chipped human being.  No longer deal with the hassle of waiting in lines.  Just grab your stuff, walk through the turnstile where you are scanned and go.  Revelation 13 anyone?

The brave new world of Transhumanism may seem to be nothing but theory and speculation, but it is being worked heavily and according to schedule.

Watch this video to see where we are heading.

The people who are behind this agenda have tremendous power, influence, and intelligence and they are shaping our world, through the use of technology, into the future that they foresee – or are being guided towards – where man is merged with machine and controls his own universe – or so goes the mantra.  In reality, it is a world of group-think and slavery to the system that is so fantastical that even George Orwell couldn’t have imagined it.

More on the transhumanist agenda in posts to come.

Thus shall it be…Part 1

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.   They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.  -Luke 17:26-30

A terrible time is coming upon the world and yet now is.  Even as I write this posts the four horses of the Apocalypse are being fitted for their ride and the noxious smell of death is all around us.  Just this week in America we have seen two horrific things take place.  In Oklahoma, a man who had been a convert to Islam for perhaps a year demonically stormed into his former place of work and beheaded the first person he saw, all the while, according to witnesses, shouting Islamic phrases.  This incident is being called workplace violence, but we all know that domestic terrorism is the white elephant in the room that our politically correct culture can not speak of, and the story of workplace violence rings about as true as Ft. Hood’s ISIS wanna be’s tale rings.  Then there is pestilence.  Ebola has now found its way to America – not, through the transfer of the sick from other lands here for treatment, but by an unsuspecting unquarantined individual who has been in contact with who knows how many people in how many places.  The world is a scary place right now.  And yet, it appears that the number one story this week, if I am to judge by its appearance on nearly every American internet news source for several days in a row is not something that could change the world forever such as terroristic incidents or deadly plagues, but a wedding.  Actor George Clooney married his girlfriend, Muslim attorney Amal Alamuddin in a star studded wedding in Venice and the world is rejoicing at the marvel that someone seems to have finally tamed the eternal bachelor.  They ate.  They drank.  They married wives.  They were given in marriage – until that day…

People are asleep.  Full of junk foods and drink and sports and greed and mind-emptying entertainment and sex and lies, they turn off anything which might disturb their virtual existence and self indulgence and don’t realize the Hell which is about to be unleashed upon the earth.  Sadly, many born again Christians are in this same boat choosing to build their houses on sand – completely unprepared for the storm which lies ahead.

And then there’s Satan.  Still scheming and still influencing as he has since the garden of Eden.  That Satan’s scheme with the Nephilim (see As in the Days of Noah parts 1-10) ultimately failed did not dissuade the fallen cherub, for he has tried again and again and again to thwart God’s plan and ultimately to place himself in the place of God. We see him at the Red Sea and at the killing of the babies before.  We see him with Goliath and with the various empires which subjugated the Israelites throughtout their history.  We see him in Herod’s murder of the children of Bethlehem 2 years and younger and at the mount of Temptation.   And though his head was ultimately crushed at Calvary, you have to give him an A for trying because he is busy still – though he knows his doom is sure.

How is he trying to thwart God’s plan today?  He’s doing it by using the same playbook he has used from the beginning of time with only slight tweaks to reflect the times.  He spurs an inordinate fascination with the occult even to the point that a recent New York Magazine article informed its readers about “Everything you need to Know about Ghost Sex!”  Indeed, the media itself is such a great tool for Satan that given just a little time, he can use it to shape just about any opinion he wants.  Things that were once thought of as good (such as traditional marriage and Christian morality) are now seen as bad and things that were once bad are now celebrated as liberating and good.  The tyranny of the tube allows for little variation from the accepted norm and increasingly we are seeing disagreement with these views may result in marginalization, rebuke, and punishment.  With Government institutions stepping into the fray, it’s not a safe time to be an outspoken Christian – if you count safeness in terms which exclude the supernatural.  And, I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse.

One can see Satan is not very original in his tactics – but then again, it isn’t for lack of intelligence.  It’s for lack of need.  Why invent new tactics when the old ones are so effective?  In the beginning he promised Eve that if she followed him she and Adam would be as gods.  He promised great knowledge and understanding.  And he caused her to question what God had explicitly said.

When Satan tempted Christ, he sought to thwart God’s plan by appealing to the Humanity of Jesus and offering him all the world in exchange for his allegiance. It didn’t work, but it just shows that if the perfect spotless Son of God is not above temptation, neither are we.

And so, we see him using the same tactics today.  The same lies in new packages with glittering promises of health, comfort, and immortality.    You can be as gods is the lie believed by many a cult and false religion; yet, it is a lie that is embraced as heartily as it was in the days of Eve and in the days of Noah.  However, it is not just the religionists that embrace this lie.  Modern science is now doing it as well.  While disavowing the existence of the Almighty God and rejecting His role as Creator; many are trying to set themselves in His place and create their own future where they reverse the curse and live as immortals.  In the words of the head of engineering at Google and preeminent thinker and prognosticator, Ray Kurzweil, when the question was posed “Does God Exist?”  his answer was “well, not yet.

For these visionaries, the ultimate quest of mankind is the preservation of life.  Life, as they define it, is really made up of the internal software of the human mind, knowledge, and personality.  Kurzweil and others like him are feverishly working towards a time where they can download that software and place it into new hardware shells (i.e., robotics, humanoids, avatars).  Their movement may seem fringe, but it is growing exponentially as the race is on for immortality.

For the next several posts, we’ll take a look at this movement, its promise, its pitfalls, and its possible role in Bible prophecy.  Stay tuned!
